Benefits at NYU School of Medicine

We currently provide a comprehensive benefit package to eligible Faculty which is intended to meet your own work/life needs. The NYU School of Medicine Program consists of a flexible benefit plan providing flex dollars, in addition to your salary, which allows you to utilize flex dollars to purchase/waive benefits. This flexible benefit plan provides a number of choices under Medical, Dental, Prescription, Life and Disability Insurance Plans. Our medical and dental options provide you with the ability to choose among PPO (Preferred Provider) and HMO plans based on whether you want the freedom to utilize providers who are outside the network. Our medical plan also provides unique features that minimize your out of pocket expenses when you use our facilities. We also offer optional benefits that include Vision, Dependent Life Insurance, and Flexible Spending Reimbursement Accounts for non-reimbursed Dependent Care, Healthcare and Transportation expenses.

The flexibility in choice available under our benefit program allows you to decide which plans best meet your needs as well as the needs of your eligible dependents. Eligible dependents would include your spouse (or same gender domestic partner) and dependent children up through age 25 (as long as they are unmarried and remain full time students).

In addition to the Health and Welfare Benefits, we address other areas of work/life needs by offering you:

  • The opportunity to participate in a tax-deferred defined contribution retirement plan in which you control the investment of your contributions, including a generous employer contribution on your behalf, in accordance with plan guidelines
  • Consideration of educational assistance for your eligible dependents, under a generous tuition remission benefit policy at New York University
  • For prospective Tenure Track Faculty Members considering the purchase of a primary residence, we offer a Faculty Mortgage Program to offset some of those expenses.
